Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
Has nothing to do with politics, a simple fact, this is Thailand, whether you agree or not you are a visitor, start thinking everything wrong is the Thais fault and you will create problems you can not escape. You post a message in Thai in an english language website , do you not think people would want to know what it is you are asking them to print and post around town. On a side note Martin and I are friends for many many years , I jack with all the time about his BFF trump
Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
Its simply a flyer attempting to educate about the dangers of burning plastic - there is no need to get political or try and over complicate things. Yes we know we are farangs and are lower than cockroaches here, but we all want a better future for this planet and preventing more plastic entering it is part of that, hence our efforts on the beach and with this flyer.
If it was in English it would not be read by its target audience. It has also been distributed on Thai language facebook pages. It seems no matter what you do someone will pick an argument with it.

Just like to let everyone know that one month from today 15th Sept is World Cleanup Day.
This is an event which has been running 10 years and its aim is for volunteers from all over the world to come together to rid our planet of trash – cleaning up litter from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets.
The planning for this massive event has been ongoing for 2 years and staff have been working around the clock in preparation with millions of volunteers in over 150 countries.
Just look up “World Cleanup Day” on Google and you will find out loads more information.
If anyone in the Bang Saphan area would like to organize a cleanup please get in touch.

Just bumping this, want to have a good turn out!!
Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
Great turnout for World Cleanup Day, 34 volunteers including 10 kids collected almost 100kgs of trash from the beaches around Suan Luang.
Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
I'm just seeing the state of Bang Saphan's beaches after the recent storms on the Thai National TV News. Far too much for your local chapter of Trash Heroes to deal with.
Do you get help from the authorities when such a load is dumped on your beaches?

No.
In fact we have had to suspend the weekly TH collections until we can find a solution for disposing of the trash we collect. There is nowhere to take it in Bangsaphan and the authorities will not collect it.

Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
Situation Update: We met with local contacts and officials earlier this week to try to find a solution. The local authorities said they will collect the trash we take off the beach but they want to have a little look at what we do first. So we will be resuming cleanups from Monday December 3 to show them. The more Trash Heroes we get the better so please turn up to show your support!
Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
Great news! Trash Heroes were back in action today - and the local council turned up with the garbage truck. They will now be taking the trash away every week, bottles go to recycling and the rest of it gets compacted and sent to Pranburi for processing.
We need more Heroes now so please join the group on Mondays, 8am at Roy Tawan if you want to be a Hero!

Yes, a very successful and productive morning.
Re: Trash Hero Bangsaphan: Suan Luang beach cleaning
One step forward two steps back.
The govt trash truck has stopped collecting so the Trash Heroes, who have been cleaning beaches in Bangsaphan for almost five years, may have to suspend operations again.
