Sandflies and stuff

Post by bazfaz » 18 Mar 2014 18:16

I have a lazy period at the moment and my mind has wandered to next year's holiday. OK, I know most people haven't had this year's holiday yet but we live in the northern hemisphere and like to take our summer holiday in winter (think palm trees).

I like the sound of Bang Saphan. Palm Gardens seems to get universal praise.

I have one query. If we come next year for a couple of weeks at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb will I (my wife isn't affected) be bitten by sandflies on the beach? Some people are lucky enough not to be troubled but I have an allergic reaction and have to slap on antibiotic cream.

Any feedback?

Welcome to the forum, Suan Luang beach doesn't suffer from sand flies in swarms though you may get the odd one now and then.

Thanks Buksida.

I have suffered on big Ko Chang but not on Samui or Ko Jum. I think the worst was in the Phillipines on Palawan. The locals called them no-see-ums. A large plastic sheet on the beach defeated the sandflies but lying on plastic is very sweaty.
