Wanting to retire

Post by Dude » 19 Jul 2010 20:22

I would like to retire in Thailand. I make $3800 USD a month. Is this enough money to live somewhere along the beach?

Dude, that's enough to live anywhere in Thailand!

Seriously, welcome to the forum - immigration stipulates that you need 800k THB (about US$25,000) per year coming into the kingdom to get a retirement visa. You have almost double so finances will not be a problem.

Bangsaphan is also a lot cheaper to live in than major tourist destinations such as Hua Hin or Samui so your money will go further there.

Is the retirement age 50, or 55?

Yo Dude

You can retire on 3800usd anywhere. You can retire comfortably on this type of income in Thailand. Just be careful with those Thai babes becuase they can spend this sourt of money very easily.
Dont hook up unitl you are sure and when you are sure doubl check.

"You can retire on 3800usd anywhere"...perhaps that amount should be in Thai Baht, or Swiss Franks. The US Bond market (and thus the dollar) isn't doing very well any more. Seems they can't go on printing cash forever without an underlying value in wealth. Expect rampant inflation?
